Suggestions For A Great Reading Program Experience
FOR CHILDREN:
- Start with some of the FREE resources available from Wendi Miller - Love That Amazes, including the PDF version of the children's book Wait 'Til You See What You Can Be! You can even listen to it being read by the author!
- Encourage them to pray about what their own special gifts are, and let them hear you pray over them, also!
- Ask them to tell a story or draw a picture that shows what they think their own special gifts are, and of them enjoying their favorite things and engaging in their favorite activities. Encourage their God-given creativity.
- If they aren't quite sure, help them discover their gifts by watching what they do when they think no one is watching and when they can be doing anything they want. Do they want to be inside or outside? Do they like drawing pictures? Playing games or musical instruments? Building things or taking things apart? Cooking? Organizing? They will be naturally inclined to settle into their special gifts when they are given the opportunities to do so.
- Help them find additional resources that are specific to what their special gifts are, such as books, magazines, and videos.
- Above all, encourage them to have fun and dream big, and to be courageously one-of-a-kind like God designed them to be.
- Start with some of the FREE resources available from Wendi Miller - Love That Amazes, including the mini-book No Substitutions! and the devotional story In The Right Place.
- Pray for God to show you what He desires for you and to make those the desires of your heart according to Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart."
- Pay attention to what you like to do when you can be doing anything you want. Write about it in a notebook or journal. Draw a picture of yourself participating in it.
- Look for additional resources that are specific to what your special gifts are, such as books, magazines, and videos.
- Be unafraid to think about things in a new way and to let yourself wonder about following a new direction. Have fun and dream big!
