Home > My Faith

When it came time for me to put this information here, I went on a treasure hunt. I knew I had typed up my Statement of Faith before, and I knew I had stored it somewhere electronic. Still, my search through my flash drives proved fruitless.
I couldn't find it anywhere.
Before I got too far into my search, though, I felt God tugging at my heart and whispering in my ear, "Don't you still know what you believe?" I assumed He was opening up a dialogue, so I responded. "Well, yes," I told Him. "But, I know I already typed it up and I really liked how it turned out. I just want to make sure it's right."
I was wrong about the dialogue, as it turns out. He didn't respond to what I said but simply repeated what He had said. "Don't you still know what you believe?" That's when I realized that I was simply not going to find my Statement of Faith.
I was going to type it again.
I typed up the first couple of sentences and wondered if I could really do it. I've never NOT believed that God is real and Jesus died on a cross. But could I actually provide the "what" and the "why" of those beliefs?
It proved to be a little more difficult than I thought, but I'm grateful God gave me the task. It stretched me, and I'm glad for it.
I went on a different kind of treasure hunt, finding scripture to support what I believe in my heart to be true, and it made me realize God's love for me all over again.
So, here it is. It's simple and not filled with a lot of theology. But, I believe Jesus wanted things to be understood. (Matthew 11:25)
If you have never asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior so that your beautiful relationship with the Father can be restored, I encourage you to check out peacewithgod.net. PeaceWithGod.net is operated by The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) in partnership with Jesus.net. Give it a chance to soak in, and give God the chance to speak to your heart. If you call on Him, He will listen and respond. (Jeremiah 29:13-14) If you make the decision to trust Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins, please make sure your next step is to get to a church that is preaching God's Word - and only God's Word! Make your confession before the pastor or a trusted friend, and follow in Jesus' footsteps of obedience in baptism and living a life that makes God smile. Don't feel like you'll never mess up again - we all do - but God is quick to forgive and restore the repentant heart. (All material on peacewithgod.net is © Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. - I believe that God is the Creator of all things, and I believe He is timeless. He has no beginning and no end. I can't explain it, but I believe it's true. That's why He is God and I'm not. (Genesis 1-2; Ecclesiastes 3:11)
- I believe that God is the One true God in three forms of presence: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
- I believe that when God created the earth and mankind, He wanted to have a perfect relationship with us. But sin entered the world through the choice of the one man Adam, and mankind was separated from God because of that choice. (Genesis 3)
- I believe that Jesus was born of a virgin through the power of the Holy Spirit and was completely God and completely man. He came to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins so that we would not have to die eternally and so our relationship with the Father could be restored. I believe that God allowed people to know about Jesus' birth and His mission hundreds of years before it happened so that everyone could believe that what He said was true. (Isaiah 7:14, 61:1; John 10:30)
- I believe every person is born with the innate desire to know and believe there is a God, and that He is the one true God. (Romans 1:20)
- Jesus performed miracles on earth so that people would believe He told the truth about who He was and that He had the power to forgive sins. (John 10:38)
- I believe that Jesus is the Way and the Truth and the Life, and believing that He died on the cross to save us from our sins is the only way to enter into a right relationship with God and to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12)
- I believe that it is my assigned mission to prepare hearts to believe that Jesus died on the cross for them, that He rose to life again, and is now in Heaven, seated at the right hand of God the Father. (Matthew 16:21; Luke 22:69; John 17:20-21; Ephesians 1:18-20; Colossians 3:1)
- I believe that the Holy Spirit was sent as a helper and that He acts as my Counselor so I might understand the things God wants me to understand and so I will be able to speak about Him. (John 14:26, 16:7; Luke 12:12; Romans 8:26-27)
- I believe that all spiritual gifts are vital to the church when it is operating corporately as a group of believers and to the believer as an individual. (Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11)
- I believe that Jesus is coming again and the ones who have believed that He died for their sins will be taken to Heaven with Him. (John 14:3)
- I believe that those who have denied Jesus will spend eternity separated from God. (Matthew 10:28, 32-33; Revelation 20:11-15)
- I believe Satan is at work to destroy the works of God and the mission of Christ and to deceive people from believing the truth. But I also believe God is bigger and that Jesus defeated the enemy on the cross. (2 Peter 2:1; 1 John 4:4, Colossians 2:15)
- Above all, we are all loved. (John 3:16)
